Music Heals The Soul

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

There is a stillness that only music can summon. In quiet moments of reflection—at the piano or alone in a dim room—the act becomes a meditation: sketching a melody with careful hands, coaxing warm acoustic textures into being, and refining harmonic progressions until each chord breathes. Time loosens its grip; phrase by phrase, sound becomes a sanctuary for the spirit. My music is a labor of love, born from a simple, stubborn desire to offer comfort, stillness, and peace to anyone who will listen.

Opera also became an important part of that journey. As a chorus member with Greater Miami Opera, I performed in a wide range of classic repertoire, including Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Norma, Idomeneo, Il Trovatore, Così fan tutte, La Bohème, Turandot, Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Rigoletto, and Macbeth. Among the most memorable experiences were singing in the 1992 premiere of Cristoforo Colombo and performing in Madama Butterfly under the direction of Renata Scotto.

Looking back, those years gave me far more than a collection of credits. They shaped my understanding of discipline, collaboration, storytelling, and the emotional connection that happens when voice, music, movement, and audience meet in the same living moment. That foundation continues to inform my work as a vocalist, pianist, musical director, coach, and creative artist.

Long before finding quiet solace behind the camera, at my studio desk, and at the piano, singing was where my creative life first took flight. That path was grounded classically at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Music, where I studied vocal performance.

My professional stage journey began as a cast member and soloist in the historic outdoor drama The Lost Colony, directed by the late, legendary Joe Layton. This opened the door to an extraordinary conservatory environment. Through the Colony’s Professional Theatre Workshop, I was privileged to immerse myself in master classes and craft sessions led by theatrical royalty, including Helen Hayes, Mildred Natwick, Kim Hunter, Linda Lavin, James Coco, Sondra Lee, Joseph Levinoff, Betsy Friday, John Walker, and Arthur Joseph, among others.

Journey Through Music

From those early foundations, my performing life broadened into musical theatre, opera, theme park entertainment, cruise ship production shows, revues, film and television work, and sacred and secular solo performance. I had the joy of singing and dancing in productions for Busch Gardens in Tampa and Williamsburg, performing aboard Carnival, SeaEscape, and Regency cruise ships, and appearing in regional, community, and dinner theatre productions throughout North Carolina and Florida. Along the way, favorite stage experiences included playing Tony in West Side Story, and appearing in productions of Mame, Oklahoma!, The Desert Song, Cabaret, and many others.
